Tips & What to Know
Essential advice for making the most of your dog sledding experience in Banff.
Book well in advance — dog sledding tours sell out quickly, especially during Christmas and February school breaks.
Most tours last 1–2 hours on the sled plus time to meet and pet the dogs before and after. Budget 3 hours total.
Dress extremely warmly: you'll be standing or sitting still on the sled in wind chill that can reach -30°C. Wear ski goggles and a balaclava.
Children as young as 2 can usually ride in the sled basket with an adult. Great family activity.
Tips for your musher are appreciated — $20–40 CAD is standard for a great experience.
