Camping Tips from a Local
- Two Jack Lakeside is the best tent camping in the park. It sells out in minutes when reservations open. Book it or regret it.
- First-come-first-served strategy: Arrive before noon on weekdays, before 10 AM on weekends. Waterfowl Lakes and Mosquito Creek on the Icefields Parkway are the easiest to get.
- Bears are real: All campgrounds require proper food storage. Lake Louise campgrounds have electric fences. Carry bear spray even in camp.
- Firewood: $9/bundle at campground kiosks. You cannot bring outside firewood into the park (pest control).
- Park pass is extra: Camping fees do not include the park pass ($11/adult/day or $22/family/day).
