Editorial Policy
How we research, write, and maintain content on BanffBound.
How we create content
BanffBound's travel guides are built from a combination of on-the-ground experience in Banff National Park, official data from Parks Canada, and research from verified local sources. Our trail database uses GPS coordinates, measured distances, and elevation data cross-referenced with Parks Canada trail records. Hotel information is compiled from published rates, guest reviews, and direct property research.
Some content on this site is assisted by AI tools, which we then review, fact-check, and edit for accuracy. We believe in being upfront about this. AI helps us cover more ground; human judgement and local knowledge ensure it's actually correct and useful.
How we make money
BanffBound contains affiliate links to Expedia and GetYourGuide. When you book a hotel or tour through these links, we earn a commission at no extra cost to you. This is how we fund the site, keep the tools free, and maintain our data.
Affiliate relationships never influence our editorial decisions. We don't rank hotels higher because they pay more commission. We don't recommend tours we wouldn't do ourselves. If something isn't good, we don't feature it.
Accuracy and corrections
Prices, trail conditions, and operating hours change. We do our best to keep information current, but we can't guarantee everything is accurate at the moment you read it. We display publication and last-updated dates on every guide so you can judge freshness.
If you find an error — a wrong price, an outdated trail condition, a closed restaurant — please let us know. We take corrections seriously and update content promptly.
What we don't do
- We don't accept payment for positive reviews or favourable placement
- We don't publish sponsored content disguised as editorial
- We don't scrape or copy content from other travel sites
- We don't fabricate trip reports, reviews, or testimonials
