Lake Louise Village: Complete Area Guide

Lake Louise Village is the small but perfectly located hub for exploring one of the most beautiful areas in the Canadian Rockies. Sitting at 1,540 metres elevation along the Trans-Canada Highway, it provides easy access to Lake Louise, Moraine Lake, the Icefields Parkway, and some of the best hiking and skiing in North America.

  • Mountaineer Lodge: A popular mid-range hotel
  • HI Lake Louise Alpine Centre: Hostel with Bill Peyto's Cafe
  • Deer Lodge: A historic lodge near the lake
  • Gas station and basic services

Getting to Lake Louise

Lake Louise is 57 km (35 miles) northwest of Banff along the Trans-Canada Highway — approximately 45 minutes by car. You can also reach it via:

  • Roam Transit: Bus service from Banff to Lake Louise Village (seasonal and year-round routes)
  • Banff Airporter/Brewster Express: Shuttle services from Calgary Airport stop at Lake Louise
  • Icefields Parkway: Lake Louise is the southern gateway to this legendary scenic drive
