The Spray River Loop is one of Banff's most accessible and scenic trails — a gentle, flat path that follows the Spray River through forests and meadows, past the iconic Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel, and along some of the most beautiful riverside scenery in the park. It's perfect for an easy walk, casual bike ride, or winter cross-country ski, and you can start right from downtown Banff.

- Elevation gain: Minimal (approximately 60 metres)
- Time: 2–3 hours walking, 1–1.5 hours cycling

The Route
Start from the Bow Falls parking area near the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel. Cross the bridge over the Bow River and turn right onto the Spray River trail. The path follows the east bank of the Spray River south, winding through dense spruce and pine forest with frequent river viewpoints.
The trail loops back via Goat Creek trail or you can simply turn around at any point for an out-and-back walk. The full loop crosses the Spray River on a footbridge about 6 km out and returns on the west bank.
