About This Trail

Named after the mining operation that once extracted coal here, the C-Level Cirque trail passes crumbling mine ruins and concrete foundations before climbing into a stunning glacial amphitheatre. The cirque walls rise hundreds of metres overhead, and the trail offers excellent views across Lake Minnewanka. Interpretive elements about Banff's coal mining history add educational depth to this scenic and moderately challenging hike.
