About This Trail

Goat Creek is one of the signature cross-country ski routes in the Canadian Rockies, running from the Smith-Dorrien Highway near Canmore down to the Banff Springs Golf Course. The trail follows Goat Creek through the Spray Valley with views of Mount Rundle, Ha Ling Peak, and the Spray Range. It is predominantly downhill from the Canmore end, losing about 300 m over 19 km, making it a fast and exhilarating classic ski. Most people arrange a shuttle or taxi for the return. Not groomed by Parks Canada but well-tracked by regular use.
