About This Trail

The trail to Rockbound Lake begins with a sustained climb through dense forest before opening to reveal an extraordinary alpine lake enclosed by sheer rock walls on three sides. The remote setting and the effort required to reach it mean far fewer visitors than the park's more accessible lakes. The brilliant turquoise water and imposing cliff scenery make it one of the most rewarding lake destinations in Banff National Park.
