Peyto Lake Viewpoint

📷 Any Light
📍 2088m 📅 Jun-Oct 💡 Mid-morning (9-11 AM)

Two Jack Lake

🌅 Sunrise

📍 1400m 📅 Year-round 💡 Blue hour / Christmas lights (winter)

Johnston Canyon Catwalks

📷 Any Light
📍 1430m 📅 Year-round 💡 Overcast day (reduces harsh shadows in canyon)

Overcast days are actually better here — direct sun creates extreme contrast in the narrow canyon. Winter ice formations are spectacular. Use a slow shutter (1-2s) for silky waterfall effect.

☀️ Morning
📍 2611m 📅 Jul-Oct 💡 Morning (8-11 AM)

The hike is 5.8 km to the pass. In September, golden larches below make this the single most photographed panorama in the Rockies. Wide-angle lens essential. Dress for wind at the pass.

Athabasca Falls

📷 Any Light
📍 1220m 📅 May-Oct 💡 Midday (sun reaches canyon floor)

Multiple viewpoints via bridges — the lower viewpoint gives the most dramatic sense of power. Spray gets on your lens, bring a cloth. Long exposure (0.5-1s) smooths the water beautifully.
