About This Trail

The Castle Lookout trail climbs steadily from the Bow Valley Parkway through dense forest to the site of a former fire lookout perched on a rocky promontory. The views from the top are outstanding, encompassing the massive wall of Castle Mountain, the Bow Valley stretching in both directions, and the distant peaks of the Continental Divide. The concentrated elevation gain makes this a satisfying half-day outing for moderate hikers.
