About This Trail

The Ink Pots snowshoe extends beyond Johnston Canyon Upper Falls to reach a group of natural mineral springs in an open meadow. The springs bubble up through coloured pools that remain unfrozen even in the deepest cold, creating a surreal contrast against the snowy landscape. The route follows the Johnston Canyon trail (ice cleats needed for the canyon section) then continues through forest to the open meadow. At 11.6 km return, this is a solid half-day winter outing requiring good fitness and proper gear.
