About This Trail

Marble Canyon is the insider alternative to Johnston Canyon in winter. Located just across the border in Kootenay National Park (30 minutes from Banff), this short trail follows a narrow canyon carved through marble and limestone. In winter, ice formations coat the canyon walls and the creek below runs beneath a layer of blue ice. The trail crosses several bridges over the canyon, each offering increasingly dramatic views. Snowshoes or microspikes are recommended. You will need a Parks Canada pass for Kootenay as well.
