About This Trail

Sharing a trailhead with the Cirque Lake trail at Waterfowl Campground, the route to Chephren Lake passes through thick subalpine forest before opening to reveal a deep alpine lake beneath the striking pyramidal form of Howse Peak. The lake's remote feel and impressive mountain backdrop make it a rewarding destination for hikers looking for a quieter alternative to the park's more famous lakes. The moderate difficulty and reasonable distance make it a solid half-day option.
