About This Trail

One of the easiest and most dramatic stops on the Icefields Parkway, Mistaya Canyon is reached by a short downhill walk from the parking area. The Mistaya River has carved a deep, narrow gorge through the limestone, creating swirling potholes and smooth curved walls that demonstrate millennia of water erosion. The bridge spanning the canyon provides vertiginous views straight down into the churning turquoise water.
