About This Trail
While millions of visitors view Peyto Lake from the summit viewpoint, a much more demanding trail descends to the actual lakeshore. The steep, unmaintained descent drops over 240 metres through loose terrain and thick vegetation, requiring solid route-finding skills and confidence on unstable ground. At the shore, hikers are rewarded with an intimate perspective of the glacially-fed waters and the towering walls of the surrounding valley โ a view shared by very few.
